About This Course
The course Biodiversity Crisis: The Whats and the Whys introduce learners to the basics and values of biodiversity, ecosystem function and ecosystem services. Learners will be aware of the causes, drivers and consequences of biodiversity loss. Significantly, it highlights how humans are causing the biodiversity crisis and other modern crises and the consequences of inactions. In addition, the course allows learners to understand the close association between biodiversity crisis and the climate crisis and the linkages and contributions of biodiversity to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs). Finally, it provides learners with the knowledge and awareness of the tools and approaches to conserve biodiversity and mitigate biodiversity and climate crises.
